Business culture, ethics & integrity

Over the years, we have built a diverse, dynamic, collaborative culture. This culture keeps us moving forward and changing for the better. Above all, it encourages us to keep learning and adapting, to continue to develop, change and grow to find new ways to improve everyday life for people worldwide. Our culture comes to life through the things we do and how we do them.

Our group values underpin our culture:

1

We build

2

We deliver

3

We’re responsible

4

We value each other

These values are the guiding principles for our actions as an organisation.

We want to comply with many laws and regulations that apply to the countries in which we operate. We are therefore committed to conducting business in compliance with the law and behaving ethically. This means that we, as a group and our businesses, apply laws, rules, codes, and standards with integrity and regard for ethical business practices to support good corporate citizenship.

Our process

The Board sets the ‘tone from the top’, guiding business values and the ethical climate. The Board endorses the Code of Business Ethics and Conduct (the Code), which sets out what we as a Group expect from all our employees and stakeholders and should be adhered to when considering potential investment opportunities. Management is responsible for creating a culture aimed at long-term value creation for the Group and ensuring ethical business standards are integrated into the Group’s strategies and operations.

To execute effective and demonstrable ethics & compliance management, Naspers has developed and communicated an ethics & compliance framework that sets out minimum standards required throughout the Group. Based on this framework, Group companies (direct and indirect subsidiaries) are expected to have an Ethics & Compliance Programme. Such a programme should be ‘fit for purpose’ and focused on the risks that relate to the business.

Occupational Health and Safety

At our company, we believe that the health and safety of our employees, business partners, and all stakeholders is important to us. We are committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for everyone involved in our operations.

Across our group businesses, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) is managed at an entity level, considering the business model's local context. We expect all our companies to comply with local regulations and adhere to their industry standards for health and safety. Reflecting the diversity of business models and demographics of employee populations, localised health and safety programs are monitored and, in some instances, audited at the local entity level. Performance outcomes are integrated into our annual review process to ensure that management is actively involved in the oversight and continuous improvement of our health and safety initiatives.

At a corporate level, our commitment to OHS extends beyond compliance as we continuously strive to improve our safety performance and create a culture of safety awareness.
